Ranking Methodology
Rankings are calculated from community participation according to the methodology described on this page. A ranking position is not a court finding and does not independently establish the truth of an allegation or characterization concerning a person.
1. Voter Eligibility & Authentication (Sections 10, 63)
Voting requires an authenticated account via authorized OAuth providers (Google). Anonymous single-click voting is prohibited to protect ranking integrity and prevent automated bot manipulation.
- Voter ballots are confidential and private (Section 28).
- Users may cast at most one vote per candidate per calendar month.
2. Calendar Voting Cycles
Voting cycles operate on calendar months governed by Indian Standard Time (IST, UTC+05:30). Scores reset to zero at the start of each month, with finalized totals preserved in persistent monthly archives.
3. Vote Types & Exact Weights
Voters cast structured evaluations using exact fixed-point weights:
- Full Vote: Weight of
1.00. - Half Vote: Weight of
0.50.
4. Scoring Calculation Formula (Section 61)
A candidate's cumulative score for the active month is calculated as:
cached_score = ∑ (weight) = (Full_Votes × 1.00) + (Half_Votes × 0.50)
Votes and score increments execute within serialized database transactions, preventing race conditions.
5. Write-In / Custom Candidates
Users may nominate and vote for one custom candidate per calendar month using their verified Instagram handle. Entries violating community guidelines are rejected.
6. Anti-Abuse, Bot Detection & Audit Logs (Sections 11, 42, 64)
Our ranking engine applies multi-layered fraud defenses:
- Rate Limiting: Requests are throttled using distributed database token buckets.
- Bot Detection: Automated scraper signatures and headless clients are blocked.
- Audit Logging: Every vote records an internal audit log entry to ensure traceability.
- Closed Anti-Abuse Thresholds: Specific algorithmic detection thresholds remain confidential to prevent bad actors from gaming safeguards.
